The Beauty of Creation

I am trying to keep things light on Saturdays.  It is a day we all usually get to rest and relax and spend time with family.  That is very true for myself as well.  My wife and I like to spend 1 weekend a month visiting my family in central New Jersey.  Today I had a dentist appointment in the morning up here and so we had to leave early in the morning.  We take the Garden State Parkway and we were lucky to leave at such a time to enjoy a beautiful sunrise.  Not only that but the clouds were shaped as such where it reminded me of my times in Montana, Denver, Reno, or even Albuquerque where a city was surrounded by mountains.  It is also starting to get cold at night here and some of the trees starting changing colors to that beautiful Autumn bouquet.  And I started to think of what an amazingly beautiful world God has created.

Just think of how much time we spend in our lives appreciating that beauty.  Have you ever gazed at the clouds thinking of what shapes you can make out of them?  Have you ever gone to the beach just to watch a sunset, sunrise, or just to watch the waves roll in?  Have you ever stared at a flower and admired it for the artwork that it is?  Have you ever looked in wonder at a tree older than this nation, hundred of feet tall, and wider than your car?  Have you ever looked at the beautiful arrangement of trees up the slope of a mountain?  Have you ever peeked our your window at fresh now and now the world looks so pure and clean blanketed in white?  Have you ever been out on a quiet sea or lake at night where the only light is the moon glistening off the water?  God's work is amazing.

I used to travel a lot on my own and I would always rent a car wherever I was and plan roundabout ways to get me where I wanted to go, purposely taking me through forests, mountains, and other works of God's majesty. I would just turn up some music and worship God for what He has done.  It is amazing to realize that artists spend years trying to copy what God accomplished in a few days.  It is amazing to me to think that people spend so much money for representations of what God has provided for free and for real.

We get so caught up in doing that we often never take the time to just stop and appreciate where we are.  It is easy as there is so much bad and evil in the world that it is hard to look past that.  For me though, the beauty around me is a testament to the fact that God is real.  Don't worship the creation, but worship the Creator for the wonder of His creation.  Worship God by enjoying and appreciating His creation, but making sure to acknowledge Him as Creator.  And then think that all the beauty we see around us is but a small taste of what is to come.  The most beautiful things on earth are but a hint at the awesome majesty and beauty of God.  They are here merely as signs pointing towards His glory.  Think of the most beautiful thing you can imagine here on earth then realize it is nothing to the beauty of Heaven.  The world was created for us, but that same Jesus who created the world is Himself making a place for us in Heaven right now.
"In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. John 14:2-3 NKJV
