A Brief State of the Church in America

Good Saturday to everyone!  In keeping things short today, I want to keep it short, but not very light.  With a new poll on religion released earlier in the week, the wretched condition of the American church has once again been confirmed.  First I do believe that God has remnant and many of you are part of it.  Unfortunately we are getting lost more and more in the crowd of filth that calls itself by the name of our Lord.

First of all (and I know this number is a minority but really?) 15% of evangelical Christians do not even know enough about the Bible to know that Genesis is the first book.  29% of evangelical Christians can not name tjhe 4 Gospels.  33% believe that "Do unto others" is one of the 10 Commandments.  20% did not know Moses led the Jews out of Egypt.  These are common knowledge questions!  If anyone ever opens their Bible at all they would know those answers.  As for Christian history, it is even more pathetic.  Only 52% knew who Martin Luther was and a mere 15% knew of Jonathan Edwards (though I imagine most Christians today would not want to know of the man who wrote 'Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God.'  Other polls tell us that only 41% of professing Christians believe the Bible to be the inerrant Word of God and 52% of Christians believe that Jesus is NOT the only way.

And that is where my heart and calling are.  I truly believe that if we want any positive change to come to America, the church must repent first.  God will judge a nation for the unredeemed, but God has historically shown less patience for those who should know better.  I can think of several prophets who met rather rough deaths for what most would consider disobedience in small things.  Considering those who consider themselves  Christians make up the majority of this nation, it is clear that the salvation of America begins with repentance of the church in America.

Many may think what I write is harsh or uncompromising, and I have been ridiculed, accused of heresy, called a hypocrite, called a legalist, and a few other things.  I have also been accused in that what I write is not encouraging.  Well, it is encouraging if you are following God's Word, otherwise it will and should be convicting and challenging.  I would expect that kind of attack in the world, but most of that has come from those in the church.  I do not post what I post and write what I write to win popularity contests.  I do not do it to make new friends (if anything it has caused strain in some friendships).  I write what I write because it is what God has put on my heart.  I write what I write because the church needs to hear it. I write what I write because God has a message for the church and someone has to say it.  I am only pointing out what is in God's Word and if you disagree with something I say, I suggest you dust off your Bible and start to study it.  Study it and then tell me where I am wrong.  Tell me how I taught something not Scriptural.  Show me my error and I will acknowledge it.

The proof is in the numbers.  Our church has lost its way.  Maybe what I write sounds harsh at times, but my heart aches for the church in America.  My heart aches when I see brothers and sisters in the Lord cheating themselves out of an amazing relationship with the Lord because they do not follow Him.  My heart aches for this nation getting worse and worse while the church cowers from such horrifying enemies as lawyers from the ACLU.   I write what I write because I love this nation and God has placed an enormous burden on my heart for the church in America.  Brother and sisters, break time is over as there is much work to do before the return of our Lord.  Brothers and sisters, stand boldly for the Lord.  Stand boldly for the Truth of God being His complete and inerrant Word.  Stand boldly against sin, especially sin in our own churches. Stand and be counted for the work of God.  Stand, put on your armor, and get marching on in the calling for which you were called.
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God Ephesians 6:10-17 NKJV
