The End of the World as Glenn Beck Knows It

Last night I watched Glenn Beck for the first time in a long time.  As it as when I last watched, Communists were taking over America and before long we will all be rioting in the streets for food.  And while much of what he says is plausible and much of the information he provides is accurate, it is not something we should be focused on or worried about.  Today, please take a step back from this crazy world we live in and think about Who made it.

Our economy is going downhill each and every day.  Threats of terrorism or violence are an ever-present reminder of the dangerous world we live in.  Pundits like Glenn Beck exploit these facts for ratings because fear sells.  But despite all of these things, God is still in control.  Even if our economy completely collapses, God is still in control and God is the one who allowed it to happen.  And if God is allowing it to happen, God is in still in control no matter how crazy things may seem.  God is always in control.  And if God is in control, it is He we must petition if we want any hope at stopping any coming calamity.  Voting for Republicans and having Tea Parties have no effect on what God allows to happen.  Only our repentance does.  Only seeking after Him does.

So no matter what happens in this world, no matter how dark things may seem, not matter what scary thing may be on the horizon, the first and most important thing we need to do is to seek after God.  If you want to make it through hard times, the answer will not come from Glenn Beck or anyone else for that matter.  If you want to make it through hard times whether now or in the future, first seek after God today.  We do not know what tomorrow has in store for us, so seek after God today and let Him worry about tomorrow.
"Therefore do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble." Matthew 6:31-34 NKJV

  1. Amen. God is in control for it is He who raises upon governments and He who brings them down. All the craziness we see in the world is part of His plan and is working toward the end that He has ordained. In this we can and should take comfort.
