A Message From a Special Child

Some years ago I began to sponsor a child from Rwanda.  When I first began my sponsorship, he was just a little boy and now he is a young man.  It was a blessing to watch him mature through his letters through the years.  I will probably never get to see him in this life, but he is one of the people I really look forward to getting to know in heaven.  Today I am just going to post a letter I received from him.  This is not a special letter, but typical of his writing.  What is amazing, though, is that his letters are always focused on God.  This boy lives in poverty we can not even understand, yet he never complains.  In fact, some part of the meager gifts I send him is always given back to his church.  More than that, the rest is used to help sustain his family.  Quite honestly, he puts many of us to shame.  The worst of us probably has more than he will ever have, yet we take that freedom and squander it on self serving desires and he takes what little he has and uses it for the Lord.

Here is his letter:
I greet you and in the name of Jesus and wish you the peace of God.  I am happy to tell you my news.  We are fine and thank God for safeguarding us to this day.  Easter was good to us all in our family.  At our project, we had a youth gathering and were taught the Word of God in John 3:16-21.  What pleased me is that Jesus is our God and our savior.  In school we are in 2nd term studies.  In first term, I was 14th among 43 pupils and god 62%.  Pray for me to pass the national exam, which marks the first half of secondary education.  How are you and you wife?   I leave you with Psalm 23.  I wish you peace of God.
No it was not some grand theological tretise.  It was just a young man of God speaking how a man of God speaks.  May we all follow in that example.
A Psalm of David. The LORD [is] my shepherd; I shall not want.
He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters.
He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name's sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You [are] with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the LORD Forever.  Psalm 23 NKJV
