Hurricane Irene

As I write this today, Hurricane Irene is on its way right for us in Egg Harbor Twp NJ.  We have made our preparations and prayed for safety and we are not set to hunker down and ride out the storm that should be here in just a few hours.

If you are in her path, where you need to be is in prayer.  Pray for safety and for God to use you in the aftermath.  Pray that God calms the wind and the waves so that there is no more loss of life.  Prayer is our only recourse when caught in a storm of this magnitude and that is because only God is stronger than the power He set in motion at creation.

I urge all of you, take time to pray.  If you have others who are unsaved and waiting out the storm with you, be a witness of the power of Jesus Christ and not give into the worldly temptations of having some sort of a drinking party.  If that is something you are doing, then shame on you.  You are a failure as a witness when a witness is needed the most.  And, finally, do not panic.  We have a God who is more powerful than any storm that His creation can throw at us.  Take comfort in God and have faith that not only will He get you through, but that He will use you as a witness in this time of trouble.

God bless you all and if you are waiting out this storm then please know you are in our prayers.
And suddenly a great tempest arose on the sea, so that the boat was covered with the waves. But He was asleep.  Then His disciples came to [Him] and awoke Him, saying, "Lord, save us! We are perishing!" But He said to them, "Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?" Then He arose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm.  Matthew 8:24-26 NKJV
