Fire and Brimstone by Proxy

Today is an exceptionally busy day, but I wanted to take the time to present a brief message.  My wife was under the weather this weekend and so on Sunday we stayed home and watched a message by K.P. Yohannan of Gospel for Asia in lieu of going to church.  His message was fiery and passionate as one would expect from Brother K.P.  He also talked a lot about Hell and how Hell is a very real place.  It was a fire and brimstone message, but with a twist.  It was not about warning his audience that if they do not accept Jesus, they are going to go to Hell.  It was not about creating a legalistic system that one must obey to avoid going to Hell, even for the Christian.  No, his message was about others going to Hell.  His message was not that his audience was going to Hell, but through the lack of concern of many Christians, others are going to Hell.  There is a Scripture that really sums up what I am saying.
How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: "How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, Who bring glad tidings of good things!"  Romans 10:14-15 NKJV
You see, we get so caught up in our spoiled lives that we forget that each day millions of people are going to Hell never having heard the name of Jesus.  We go to church to hear how blessed we are, how loved we are, how much God wants to prosper us, and how God wants us to be healthy and happy forever and ever.  We make church all about us and we neglect to even think of the millions of others that are going to Hell.  Do we even care?  I really need to ask that about myself and I think we all should take some time for self examination.  Even if God has prospered you, given you an abundance, overflowed your cup, and all those other things our churches like to tell us, do you really think that He gave all that for us to squander on junk that pleases the flesh?  Do you think God gave you an abundance to use on yourself and your own pleasure while missionaries in foreign lands are starving to death?  The Bible tells us that to whom much is give, much is required.  We are given much, but many of us give nothing.  What will our Lord say to the servant who not only buries the talents entrusted to him, but takes those talents and uses them on his own pleasures?  I do not want to find out.

And so, please take some time to examine your own hearts.  Maybe you are not sent out to be a missionary, but understand that every unsaved person in your life is your mission field.  Do you care more about your own temporary pleasures or their eternal damnation should they not accept Jesus?  Furthermore, while you may not be able to travel as a missionary, or even be called to be one, you do have a means to send one.  Even if you are not called to preach, you can still send a preacher.  You do so with your money, your time in volunteering for things that raise money and awareness, and through your prayers.  What it all comes down to is obedience.  Are you obedient to the Great Commission?  I am not asking for your own sake or whether or not it affects your own eternal destination, but for the salvation of others.  Maybe for you obedience is not an issue once you have your salvation, but what if it affected the salvation of others?  If you truly believe in God and if you truly believe that Hell is a very real and very horrible place, do yo really want to know that someone needed to hear the Gospel and anything else in your life was more important?  Do you really want to know that someone could have been saved, if you had only taken the time to even care?
Then He said to His disciples, "The harvest truly [is] plentiful, but the laborers [are] few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest."  Matthew 9:37-38 NKJV
