The World's Love Affair With Darkness

I just want to take a few moments today to build upon what I wrote about yesterday.  There is a reason that the world hates us so much.  That reason is that the world loves darkness.  This is growing increasingly apparent with each passing day.  This should be no surprise.
He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed.  John 3:18-20 NKJV
The world hates because us it hates Jesus and it is the light of Jesus that shines through us.  We live in a world where even Christians are starting to believe that homosexual marriage should be accepted.  We live in a world where homosexual love is being portrayed as something "beautiful."  We live in a world where children are becoming more and more obsessed with witches, wizards, vampires, werewolves, zombies, and worse.  As for parents, they think it is perfectly fine that their children are obsessing over demons and their servants forgetting the premise that even Satan himself can appear as an angel of light.  Hollywood has clothed evil in such a good light where even Christians are fans of vampires and werewolves and even relate to the "love" stories between demons and humans.  I wondered what happened last time angels and humans had sexual affairs, oh yea, the earth was destroyed.  We live in a world where it is legal to kill your unborn baby and many even stand up for this "right."   Many even think it is MORAL to stand up for that right and many of those are in the church.  We live in a world where children are taught about sex.  We live in a world where children have sex, learning from the entertainment their parents allow them to watch or even watch with them.  We live in a world where the Gospel is seen as oppressive and where being a Christian is becoming more and more of a hindrance for running for any kind of public office.  We live in a world where God is routinely thrown out of our schools.  I can go on, but the point is that the world grows more and more in love with evil and darkness with each passing day to where many evil things are now seen as good and many good things are now seen as evil.

That is why we are so important.  We stand in direct opposition to this evil trend.  We stand in prayer like Moses pleading for God's mercy on a world ripe for judgement.  We reach out in love to a world that strikes out in hate.  We preach forgiveness while the world teaches revenge.  We practice love while the world practices hate. We are the only hope for the world, not because of anything we did but because for whatever reason God has given us the task of spreading the Gospel and making disciples of all the nations.  Jesus made us the light and salt of the earth to stand in opposition to the evil trend that has brought this world to the brink of final judgement.  When will the end come?  No one knows as God has kept that information to Himself and for good reason.  For all we know He could come back today.  For all I know He could come back before you even read this.  It is really time we started to live like Jesus could return at any time and on any day with no warning.  We need to feel the urgency that there may not be a tomorrow to make a difference for Jesus in the life of someone God is putting on your heart today.  Brothers and sisters, the ship is sinking and each passing moment is a moment less to get someone else to safety.  Leave the bars, leave your beds, leave your useless games and meaningless entertainment and reach someone for Jesus while there is still time.
For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night. For when they say, "Peace and safety!" then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape. But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as others [do], but let us watch and be sober. For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk are drunk at night. But let us who are of the day be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and [as] a helmet the hope of salvation.  1 Thessalonians 5:2-8 NKJV
