A Request For Prayer

Tomorrow is a big day for my family.  My wife is having surgery.  It is nothing major and its an elective procedure, not an emergency one, but your prayers will be appreciated.  This week will be very busy so I will be kind of quiet this week, but I did want to put this out to ask for all your prayers.

I know sometimes we get the mindset that we need less prayer for less serious things, but the Bible never gives such a distinction.  If anything, it is those times when, quite possibly, we need even more prayer.  I say that because it is at those times that we get into the mindset that we do not need God.  We figure that God is necessary for the big things, but we can handle the little things on our own.  We trust our surgeons and doctors.  We take our pills and take our rest and just know we will get better.  I am not saying that doctors do not have their place as the tools that God has allowed man to discovery to help hear our bodies are nothing short of miraculous.  The fact is though, we must always keep our faith and trust in the Provider and not the means of provision He has provided.

God tells us to pray without ceasing and to approach every situation by prayer. This is whether we know we need God or think we do not need Him.  The fact is we always do need Him.  In good times and bad, in "routine" things and surprises, in elective "minor" surgeries and emergency traumas, in a head cold or in terminal cancer, in heart burn or a heart attack, we need God in ever situation we face.  Neither I nor my wife are going into tomorrow with the arrogance that we do not need God in our hearts and minds as well as the operating room.  We want Him there because we realize we need Him there.  We also want your prayers as it is through our prayers that we know our God will be there.

God bless you all and thank you for your prayers.
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.  Philippians 4:6-7 NKJV
